When will robot maids be available?
Useful household robots already exist, and general-purpose machines are beginning to enter real homes through betas, early deliveries and human-operated services.
Early home deployment
1X says US NEO deliveries start in 2026. Sunday is recruiting Founding Families for Memo’s 2026 beta. Weave has already shipped Isaac 0 in California and plans first Isaac 1 deliveries in autumn 2026. Tau already charges selected San Francisco households for humanoid cleaning visits; trained human operators control the robots remotely.
Broader consumer sale
Sunday says Memo will go on sale after its 2026 beta. Weave plans broader US Isaac 1 availability through 2027. Neither company has announced a UK consumer launch.
Real homes are becoming training environments
Tau’s $30 one-hour cleaning service shows that household deployment can arrive before general autonomy. Its humanoid works in ordinary customer homes, while a trained operator controls the robot in real time and the resulting video, telemetry and commands become training data.
What the 2026 World Robot Conference changes
Reuters reported more than 300 exhibitors, over 2,000 robotics exhibits and more than 150 product launches at the August conference in Beijing, with humanoids shown doing logistics, manufacturing and household tasks. The commercialisation push is clearly accelerating.
The software gap remains substantial. Unitree chief executive Wang Xingxing told Reuters that robots able to understand and perform most tasks in unfamiliar environments from simple commands could still be two to ten years away. That range is wide, but it usefully separates rapid hardware deployment from dependable general household autonomy.
