Current answer

For small recognised objects, yes. General-purpose tidying across arbitrary household clutter remains harder.

The task scales quickly from moving a sock to understanding dozens of object types and where each belongs. Weight, graspability and destination knowledge all matter.

What the job involves

  4. Lift safely
  5. Know destination
  6. Place object

MAKER’S CLAIM

Can a robot pick up socks?

Yes. Roborock lists socks among the Saros Z70’s supported objects, together with sandals, crumpled tissues and towels under 300 g. The robot can carry recognised items to destinations set in the app.

Independent testing gives the capability useful context. The Verge found that Z70 could collect socks and paper in a normal home, while footwear pickup and accurate placement were much less consistent.
