Tau sends teleoperated humanoid cleaners into San Francisco homes for $30 a visit
Tau Robotics is offering invite-only one-hour humanoid cleanings in San Francisco for $30. Its terms say a trained human controls every visit in real time, while the recorded footage trains models intended for later autonomy.
Tau Robotics has moved humanoid cleaning into paying customer homes in San Francisco. Its public service page lists surface cleaning, vacuuming, taking out rubbish and clearing clutter; the service terms set a one-hour visit at $30 and say access is currently invite-only.
The autonomy label matters. Tau says a trained operator controls the robot in real time from the company facility, and an adult must remain in the property. The robot can move ordinary items such as chairs, laundry baskets and small tables while it works.
Every visit is recorded through cameras on the robot. Tau says it retains video, robot telemetry and operator commands to train models for future autonomy. The privacy policy says the microphones are disabled during the service. This is useful evidence for real-home physical task execution and data collection; it does not yet establish autonomous household cleaning.
